JAZZ: Jazz is a variety of theatrical dance, usually but not necessarily danced to Jazz music.  It is considered a Luigi dance style.  This recreational program is for all students.  The classical jazz is for dancers with ballet experience.


MODERN: Modern dance is a dance form developed in the early 20th century, derived from steps and positions of original and authentic movement (ballet).  The beginner-intermediate students will learn the Martha Graham technique while advanced dancers study the Limon technique.


PRESCHOOL: This program will introduce the young child to movement to music.  The dancer learns the basic foot positions, basic movements and correct body placement for Ballet and Highland.  The child also learns to recognize different types of music, and to apply these to dance, as well as participating in creative improvisation. 

This discipline is offered to 3 & 4 year olds and the class is 45 minutes in length.


BALLET: The ballet program offers classical training in the Voganova method.  This method of training students is based on an old French/Russian school of ballet.  The most famous dancers such as Barishnickov and Nureev studied under the Vagonova style of ballet.  We are proud to be the first dance school in this area to offer this method of training dancers.


HIGHLAND: Classes are taught in accordance with the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing.  Dancers will focus on the traditional Highland dances and branch out to the Scottish National and Character dances.  Students will have the opportunity to perform at concerts, compete at Highland games and take part in Medal Test Exams.

This discipline if offered for ages 4 years and up.


TAP: Tap Dance is a style of American theatrical dance, distinguished by percussive footwork that marks out precise rhythmic patterns on the floor. The name comes from the tapping sound made when metal plates on the dancer's shoes touch a hard surface.  The sources of tap dancing include the Irish solo step dance, the English clog dance, and African dance movements.  The dance school is pleased to offer this dance discipline for the very first time!


BALLROOM DANCE: Ballroom is a form of dance enjoyed both socially and competitively.  It includes standard dances such as the fox-trot, waltz, polka, tango, Charleston, jitterbug, and merengue.  Latin American dances such as the rumba, samba, paso doble, and cha-cha-cha are also part of the ballroom repertoire. This 8 week introductory program will offer both the Latin and standard form of this dance style.


ADULT DANCE: This classs will stretch and strengthen the adult dancer, while indroducing them to the basics of dance. Previous experience not required.
